Attic! FAQ

This is the FAQ of card-by-card rulings that might help you answer questions and settle friendly disputes while playing Attic! with friends, family, and strangers. 

Attic! Cards

Card Name  Rulings
Badminton Net
  • The round can end in the middle of the effect if there are not enough cards left in the deck to draw.
Bag of Marbles
  • You must draw the card for your turn before playing a card at random.
  • Use any reasonable means to randomize the card you play, such as shuffling the cards or having an opponent select for you.
  • If Bag of Marbles forces you to play a card you cannot afford the battery cost of, you get SCARED!
Broken Mirror
  • Broken Mirror only prevents the player who used it from losing batteries, even if the played card is making multiple players lose batteries (e.g. using Hideous Prom Dress). The other players are affected as normal.
  • Broken Mirror cannot prevent a player from having batteries stolen from them.
  • The player who played the card, not another player involved with the card's effects, is the player who loses the batteries (e.g. Shadow Puppets).
  • The round can end in the middle of the effect if there are not enough cards left in the deck to draw.
  • Broken Mirror does nothing if you play it on your turn.
Celestial Telescope
  • You alone must have the fewest batteries of any player to meet the condition, not tied for the fewest. (This excludes players who have been SCARED!)
Crack of Lightning
Creaky Floorboard
  • You lose the batteries as part of the card's effect, not as a battery cost.
Distracting Tinsel
  • A skipped player does not draw a card, play a card, or pay a battery cost.
Dusty Cobwebs
  • If Dusty Cobwebs forces you to play a card you cannot afford the battery cost of, you get SCARED!
Eerie Breeze
  • In Story Mode, switching hands does not include the player's character card.
Gardening Gloves
  • You cannot choose to switch with Gardening Gloves itself.
Grandpa's Spectacles
  • If there are fewer than four cards left in the deck, look at all of them.
Hideous Prom Dress
  • You may pick only one player even if there are two or more players to chose from.

  • The round can end in the middle of the effect if there are not enough cards left in the deck to draw.
Jack-in-the-box
  • Jack-in-the-box can't SCARE! you when looking at it in the deck (e.g. using Grandpa's Spectacles).
  • In Story Mode, if Wyatt plays Jack-in-the-box, it still counts toward their total cards played and/or discarded.

Loaded Mouse Trap

  • The round can end in the middle of the effect if there are not enough cards left in the deck to draw.
Mounted Sea Bass
Nana's Phonograph
  • You may reveal Nana's Phonograph and Terrible Country Album at any moment on any player's turn.
Ninja Costume
  • The two picked players do not get to look at each other's hands.
One-eyed Doll
Rolled-up Carpet
  • This card does nothing if only you and one other player are still in the round.
Roller Derby Skates
Security Blanket
  • You must still pay the battery cost of Security Blanket after playing it.
  • After playing Security Blanket, you cannot be picked, lose batteries, reveal cards, or get SCARED! by anything other than Creaky Floorboard.
Shadow Puppets
  • Your total battery cost is calculated by adding together the battery costs of each card in your hand.
  • Tangled Twinkle Lights has a battery cost of 0 while in your hand.
Tangled Twinkle Lights
  • Tangled Twinkle Lights has a battery cost of 0 while in your hand.
Terrible Country Album
  • You may reveal Nana's Phonograph and Terrible Country Album at any moment on any player's turn.
Toy Chest
  • You don't have to switch a card if you prefer the cards already in your hand.
  • If there are fewer than three cards left in the deck, look at all of them.
Unfinished Painting
Wasp Nest
  • You alone must have the fewest batteries of any player to meet the condition, not tied for the fewest. (This excludes players who have been SCARED!)

Character Cards (for Story Mode)

Ethan
Stephanie
  • You must play the card that causes the player to your left to lose their remaining batteries or get SCARED! (e.g. using Wasp Nest, Mounted Sea Bass, etc.).
  • If you played Jack-in-the-box and the player to your left draws it, you win the round.
Wyatt
  • If you play Jack-in-the-box, it still counts toward your total cards played and/or discarded.
  • Switching a card with a discarded card (e.g. using Gardening Gloves) does not count toward your total.
